Description : Senufo people, Ivory Coast. Standing figure of a slender woman. A well carved face and hair do completer the head. The body shows raised scarification patterns and jewelry adornments. The figure would be lifted by it's arms and pounded into the ground, beating rhythm for a dance or ceremony. The worn finish from being held and from hitting the earth shows signs of use. Wood. 54 H.
