Description : Kota, Gabon, Reliquary, wood with a skin of brass applied over it in hammered sheets and strips, the form a stylized large head over a small diamond-shaped body, a form much-appreciated by the Western world as an essence of African art's abstraction, with a classic concave face and wide coiffure, possibly missing a typical crest and having minor and small cracks and holes in the metal in 4 places, aged erosion to the lowest part that sat atop a bark box of bones of the ancestor, as is typical and desired by collectors, diamond raised section on the back as is typical and traditional, definite signs of age and use, probably circa 1930s, 20h.
