Description : A group of 4 misc. ceramic objects. Lot includes a Cypriot hand-modeled figure, c. 5th -3rd C BC, H: 2 3/8 (6 cm), a black-ware ceramic spoon, L: 4 5/8 (11.8 cm), a Pre-Co0lumbian ceramic whistle in the form of a bird, L: 2 1/2 (6.4 cm), a stemmed foot from a vessel and some rock which resembles an oil lamp. Each with losses and/or repair. Lot of 4 assorted Roman clay fragments and an intact spoon. One piece has label reading '1397 CYPRUS 4 BC'. Ex property from the collection of Joseph Klein (1899-1987), New York City. Mr. Klein sought out and acquired these souvenirs as part of his vast collecting interests. Said to have collected in the manner of an 18th century connoisseur, his overall collection showcased his diverse array of artifacts acquired over a period of 45 years and included the art of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome.
