Description : DR Congo, 20th Century. A genuine figure of carved wood from the Democratic Republic of the Congo depicting a cup bearer seated on a four-legged stool. Scarification and facial details point to influence from a mixture of Luba, Kuba, Chokwe, and other groups. Beautifully carved with interesting geometric patterns across the body as well as on the cup itself. The teeth are bared, giving the figure a fierce look. 23 tall.
Provenance: ex-Pearson collection, Denver.
