Literature : Victor, D. (2022). 'Diane Victor'. France: Atelier le Grand Village & Mare et Martin. [Unpublished manuscript].
Notes : The Lady and the Rhino was originally produced for a crowdfunding campaign organised by The Atelier le Grand Village and the independent publishing house Mare et Martin to fund the publication of a monograph on the artist. The Lady and the Rhino is inspired by a group of early 16th-century tapestries called La Dame à la Unicorn, which are treasures of the French Renaissance and part of the permanent collection of the Cluny Museum, the National Museum of the Middle Ages in Paris. Victor, however, replaced the unicorn with a rhino and further uses the flora and fauna of South Africa to highlight the vulnerability and potential extinction of particular species. [1]
