Notas : Susan Helm Davies trained under Jack and Jane Heath at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, and later returned to teach in the same department for 18 years. Her subject matter is usually still life and landscape, and sometimes both combined. Underlying most of her work is her attempt to reconcile the universal and the particular, and to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. The meaning often shifts from the explicit to the implicit.
