Firma: signed, dated '36 and inscribed on the reverse: 'Sketch of Malaga by Gregoire. Watercolour sketch by Gregoire Boonzaier of the large oil painting called Roofs, Malaga which was hung in the Royal Academy in 1936 and subsequently bought by the Art Gallery in Cape Town for £50. Roofs, Malaga now hangs in the Capetown Art Gallery. Gregoire is the first Dutch South African to have a picture hung in the Royal Academy. For 1936 he had two hung.'
