Notas : The first Dutch Reformed Church building was completed six months before the formal founding of the congregation in 1851. Within twenty years that church had become too small and Carl Otto Hanger was commissioned to design the one photographed here. To minimise the disruption of services the new church was built around the old one, which continued to function until it was time to demolish it.
