A fine silver-mounted ivory-carved casket, Elkington & Co, Birmingham, 1919, designed by the artist William M. Timlin and commissioned by the then Mayor of Kimberley, Mr John Orr, rectangular the hinged cover carved with the seal of the Municipality of the City of Kimberley and flanked by initials 'AFW' on one side, and 'GW' on the other, the mounts divided into panels of leaves and twigs between beaded borders, raised on four twig-form bracket feet, the cream velvet and silk-lined interior fitted with a plaque and presentation inscription: PRESENTED TO Mr and Mrs Alpheus F. Williams, by the Citizens of Kimberley, as a mark of their esteem, 7th March 1919, the case containing a presentation scroll, painted and signed by William M. Timlin, watercolour on vellum, all mounts hallmarked, 30,5cm wide, 14,5cm high ILLUSTRATED ,1919.0
