Descripción : Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, Dynasty 26, ca, 662 to 525 BCE. An incredible faience ushabti in the form of a mummiform human with arms crossed, holding crook and flail. Extensive glyphs in 9 line cover the torso and is translated as a part of Chapter 6 from the Book of the Dead. This text is a spell that commands the ushabti perform daily tasks for the deceased. The text translates as: O, this ushabti, if one counts, if one reckons the Osiris, Pairy(?), to do all the works which are want to be done in the god's land - now indeed obstacles are implanted therewith, as a man at his duties, here I am, you shall say when you are counted off at any time to serve there, to cultivate fields, to irrigate the riparian lands, to transport by boat the sand of the east to the west, and vice versa, here I am you shall say.
