Descripción : Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE, Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 400 BCE, Egyptian, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A lovely necklace strung with over a hundred ancient glass, silver, and faience beads. The Achaemenid silver beads are formed from granulated balls that are adhered to each other in rows forming the tubular shape. The Egyptian faience beads are petite seed shapes with a blue glaze. The glass beads are from the Roman Empire, and contain traces of gold flecks within the glass, and all are mold formed with both ribbed and knobbed exteriors. At the center of the strand is a triangular pendant, also formed by Achaemenid artisans using silver balls, with an integral loop on the top. All are symmetrically strung in modern times with a brass push clasp at the terminal tips to make this a wearable piece. The contrasting hues of the cool blue faience and yellow glass makes for a very attractive necklace! Size of necklace: 22 L (55.9 cm), silver bead: 0.3 L x 0.125 W (0.8 cm x 0.3 cm), quality of silver: 93.5% Provenance: private Corpus Christi, Texas, USA estate collection, acquired 1960s to 1970s All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
