Descripción : A Museum Quality Senoufo Kpelie Tribal Ceremonial Mask | Circa 1940 | The Senufo people, also known as Siena, Senefo, Sene, Senoufo, and Syénambélé, are a West African ethnolinguistic group. They consist of diverse subgroups living in a region spanning northern Ivory Coast, southeastern Mali, and western Burkina Faso. This remarkable mask is the Kpelie type of mask depicting a human face surrounded by projections. Kpelie were used in ritual dances by men to remind initiates of human imperfection.
