Many of the objects purchased were from older collectors that acquired them in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. The focus of the collection was on older pieces that possessed great skill of workmanship and impressive forms. A review of the African Art Collection reveals a gravitation towards Dogon, Yombe, Kongo, and Bamana with a sprinkle of other important African cultures. The collection also includes over 250 copies of the book written describing many of the African Art Masterpieces and Majestic Works. The ''notes'' in the book advance only the collector's observations of the visual and emotional impacts that influenced the purchase. The collection is being sold ''Caveat Emptor''. The prospective bidders must make their own opinions of the age and authenticity of any of the objects in the collection and not rely on the descriptions in the book.
