Descripción : Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A stunning, mold-formed faience amulet which is coated with a thick, lustrous, turquoise-hued glaze. The amulet depicts a central djed pillar which is flanked by an ankh on one side and a was-scepter on the other. Each of the symbols are presented in high relief against the flat background, resting atop a semi-circular plinth with incised crosshatch motifs, and below a tubular suspension loop. Together, the three symbols are a sacred group representative of godhood, immortality, and ultimate authority in ancient Egyptian mythos. Size: 1 W x 1.375 H (2.5 cm x 3.5 cm).
