Descripción : Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A fine, hand-carved scarab formed from chalky white steatite. The scarab has identifiable insectile features such as a petite head, retracted legs, and a wing carapace on the topside, and the bottom boasts an incised image of a cobra in front of the falcon-headed god Ra. The pendant is drilled lengthwise through the body and mounted with a slender pin between the termini of a modern 22K+ (95% fineness) gold swivel ring. The ring boasts a thick band, a pair of hemispherical terminal caps, and thin wire wrapped the shoulder area. Size (ring): 1.1 W x 1.2 H (2.8 cm x 3 cm), size (scarab): 0.8 L x 0.5 W (2 cm x 1.3 cm), US ring size 9.25, quality of gold: 22K+ (95% fineness), total weight: 14.5 grams.
