Descripción : Ape mask n'gon Mali, Bamana wood, greyish brown patina, partly encrusted, metal hook, abstract form, extremely slender and lengthened with an accentuated nose ridge, linear scarification marks, sacrificial traces, slightly dam., paint rubbed off, on metal base, the uppermost institution, the kore society, establishes the way a man has to lead his life and teaches him how to attain the right attitude towards God. As in Buddhism, a continous reincarnation is a permanent option until the final communion with God. Masks, which are danced with during these ceremonies incorporate animal features, they illustrate the dicscourse of man with his own zoomorphic qualities.
