Talla : H:33.5 W:20.5 L:7 Weight 5Procedencia : This wooden mask was originally purchased in South Africa and comes from the private art collection of US Congressmen and Presidential Special Envoy Howard Wolpe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Wolpe) who served as a US Representative for seven terms and was well known for his anti-apartheid and conflict resolution efforts in South Africa, including a political partnership and friendship with Nelson Mandela, during which time these pieces were acquired. Kanaga masks were made to be worn for ritualistic dances by the Dogon people of Mail.
