Descripción : A collection of ancient pottery vessels Various periods Including a miniature Cypriot amphoriskos, with red slip decoration of intersecting diagonal lines, 3in. 7.5cm and another smaller worn example, (6.5cm.), Middle Bronze Age, 1750-1650 B.C., a Cypriot oinochoe with trefoil lip, the body decorated in umber with encircling bands, a band of concentric circles around the shoulder, 850-750 B,C. 25cm and a Cypriot shallow platter with two wish-bone handles, a black glazed and ribbed band on the exterior surrounding a broad slightly raised pad base, decorated in umber and red slip to show two groups of concentric circles, surrounded by six groups of pairs of parallel lines, two containing diamonds, four containing zig-zags, with swastikas in the field between each group, the interior decorated with two groups of concentric circles, 1050-950 B.C., 35cm diam., a Corinthian spherical aryballos, with a faded quatrefoil lotus motif, 6th Century B.C., 5cm an old label on the base,. a miniature Corinthian kothon, 6th Century B.C., 2.5in. (6.5cm.) diam., a miniature red-figure lekythos with single palmette decoration, 9.7cm a miniature red-figure hydria, with single palmette decoration, 10.6cm two fragmentary miniature red-figure lekythoi, both with their necks missing, decorated with a profile head of a lady of fashion wearing the saccos, 9cm maximum, a miniature red-figure feeder vessel with scrolled decoration around the shoulder and a single side loop handle, (4.5cm.) and a black glazed hydria with ribbed body, 6in. 15.3cm worn and one handle repaired, all Greek South Italy, circa 4th Century B.C. a Gnathian Ware pelike, with a band of laurel in added white slip decorating the neck, 4th Century B.C., 16cm and three fragmentary black figure lekythoi, one with palmette decoration, 12cm upper part of the neck and lip missing, another showing Herakles in combat with three other figures, with two altars, 7cm only the middle section of the body remains containing this scene and a white-ground lekythos with a double band of ivy between encircling bands and lattice-work, with a row of meander above, 13.2cm foot restored and part of the upper body and neck misssing, an old label attached, all early 5th Century B.C. and four moulded pottery fragments, circa 3rd-2nd Century B.C. 20 E400-600 See illustration Provenance: Ex Mustaki Collection, formed in Alexandria during the first half of the 20th Century Exported from Egypt under licence in 1949
