Descripción : Details: This lot consists of sixteen (16) original antique color lithographed and engraved plates depicting various classical monuments, objects and designs including a 17th century engraved city plan of Paestum, gladiator helmets, ancient Greek treasuries, the great pyramids of Giza (Ghizeh), plans to Egyptian temples, and excavated sculptures. These handsome historical plates measure between approx. 12x18 and 20x26 overall. The majority are from E. Prisse d'Avennes, printed by Dulong/Hangard-Mauge and published by Arthus-Bertrand. This collection of plates is from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints. Established in 1983, Archaeologia was known for providing scholarly books of quality on the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece & Rome, and the Pre-Columbian Americas.
