Descripción : Ceremonial Spoon Democratic Republic of the Congo Numbering about 250,000, the Kuba live in the area of the central Democratic Republic of the Congo bordered by the Sankuru, Kasai, and Lulua rivers. Kuba art is one of the most highly developed of all African traditions, and significant cultural accomplishments are part of their heritage. The Kuba are known for their raffia embroidered textiles, fiber and beaded hats, carved palm wine cups and cosmetic boxes, but they are most famous for their monumental helmet masks, featuring exquisite geometric patterns, stunning fabrics, seeds, beads, and shells.
