Notas : The present lot was painted in Kigali on the artist's 1942 visit to the Congo. The artist recounts her encounter with the Watussi dancers: "Their whirling yellow loin cloths are decorated with geometrical patterns; red suns, black moons and arrow heads, the symbol of birds in flight.
