AFRIKA/KONGO - vroeg 20° EEUW zeer mooi 'Lega' - masker met vrij rechthoekige vorm in ivoor met fraaie gebruikspatine en met karakteristieke stilering - hoogte : 21,5 cm - gemonteerd uit de vroegere collectie 'François' uit Orléans en sinds de jaren '60 in een Belgische collectie van oud-kolonialen (Tervuren) Elk van dergelijke maskers werd geassocieerd met een bepaalde voorouder en was voor de zgn Kindi-gemeenschap een historisch document. ref : Secrets des ivoires - Art des Lega van het Quai Branly
