Condition / Notes: This is a scarce first edition of this work. The antique volume is bound in red cloth covers with stamped gilt lettering/ornamentation on the spine and front cover. There is moderate rubbing at the edges and corners, and two rubbed spots around the title on the front cover. The binding is solid. The endpapers are toned. The signature of former owner Lucile Morrison, the novelist, is visible on the front flyleaf. The pages are clean with mild age toning, mostly in the margins. This work is lavishly illustrated with 304 photographic illustrations of sculpture, carvings, and other works of Ancient Egypt.
