Descrizione : Congo, Africa, 20th century. Carved, wooden fetish figure of stylized form with thick round base below. Hands carved to extended belly, open loops under armpits and indication of male genitalia. The drop shaped head bears a squared chin, relief moon shaped lips framing open mouth, flat triangular nose, and ovular eyes with rounded forehead and receding hairline behind. Note the expressive visage and positioning of the body with large, pantomime-like hands and feet.
