As is usual with Senufo equestrian images, the horse is quite small in relation to the rider, who sits erect on his saddle, and a staff in his hand. The size difference highlights the authority and importance of the rider, the horse symbolizes his power and wealth. Equestrian figures are often placed in shrines as leaders of spirits.
