Reflections of Notre Dame in the Seine
Notes : I am fascinated by the relationship between the physical, material world and the metaphysical spiritual conditions of our existence and it became a lifelong quest to find a balance for myself between these phenomena, the omnipresence of the spirit of place. There are a few themes or leitmotivs in my work – I have always used the window, views in an out, reflections, circles, squares and spirals, colours and textures, and that x-factor that emanates from various relationships between these qualities, as metaphors for wholeness, movement and change.Thijs Nel
