Consulter la cote et le prix de Tuareg Fulani Leather Bag Fringes, second half 20th cen

Description : Additional Information: , The Tuareg are a nomadic people of Niger and surrounding countries. They are tall, and a Tuareg woman can pack an entire household on a camel in two hours. Their skin is blue-black, from the indigo rubbed into cloths wrapped around their faces to keep out the desert sun and sand. Tuareg crosses were originally worn by men, and passed down from father to son with the words, My son, I give you the four corners of the world because one cannot know where one will die. The crosses are considered strong talismans, protection, power and fertility symbols for both men and women. They are worn by men and women of other tribes throughout west Africa, and are used as currency to buy cattle and food. The different designs are named for different oasis villages.
