Description : Details: This lot consists of the hand-colored engraving, Top of the Pyramid of Gizah by Luigi Mayer, shown in the following images. This plate was excised from the book Views in Egypt (first published in 1801). In this image, men stand on the stones at the top of the Great Pyramid, overlooking the Nile. This plate is from the holdings of Archaeologia Books and Prints. Established in 1983, Archaeologia was known for providing scholarly books of quality on the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece & Rome, and the Pre-Columbian Americas. Condition / Notes: This engraving, measuring approximately 12 1/4 x 9 1/4 on an 18 1/2 x 13 leaf, is bright and well preserved, with minor age toning in the margins, light edge wear, and a faint diagonal crease at the right edge.
