CROWLEY W.A.F.F., Africa General Service Medal 1901 EDVII, 2 clasps, 'ARO 1901-02' & 'S. Nigeria 1902-03': CLR-SERJT C. CROWLEY S. NIGERIA REGT, Coronation Medal 1902, bronze, unnamed as issued. Cornelius Crowley, born c/1868, Cork, Ireland. Enlisted Royal Munster Fusiliers 1887 at Mallow. Selected for employment with the Ashanti Field Forces, attached West African Frontier Force and Southern Nigeria Regiment, as Sergeant, Sept 1900. Returned ex-WAFF Aug, 1903. Discharged 1906. Comes with Service papers & copy of the London Gazette listing,12/09/1902 which gives a full account of the actions of the Field Force and mentions Crowley as being Wounded in Action (slight) and his award of the DCM. for the Aro Expedition. All 4 medals with contact marks, consistent with swing mounting, now court mounted for display. F-VF. A Very Rare group. (P)
