Description : wood, kaolin, black paint, plant fibre, blackish mass, metal, indigenous repair (with animal skin), bells partly replaced, base This head sculpture impresses with its unusual size and weight. It is made of one solid block. Facial features and scarification marks are highlighted with black paint so that they stand out effectively against the white coloured facial plane. A play of colours that heightens the expressiveness of the head. A stylistically and dimensionally comparable object, ex Charles Benenson Collection, is kept in the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven since 2006 (Inv. no. 2006.51.146).
