Das ist der Preis für die folgende Bewertung: West African Standing Namhi Doll

Beschreibung : Cameroon, Namji culture, 20th century. The Namji culture is famous for their wooden dolls carved from solid hardwood with geometric features and ornamented with multi-colored bead jewelry, cowrie shells, coins, metal strips, fiber and leather. Namji girls are given these dolls to play with and ensure their fertility. When a young girl is given a doll, she names it, feeds it, talks to it, and carries it around with her everywhere she goes, strapped to her back just like a real infant. In effect it is the young girl's first baby. As her responsibility, the doll helps her prepare for her future role as a mother. This particular doll is carved from rich hardwood and adorned with hammered metal clothing that is painted red. She also has three rings of metal around her waist as well as leather ties strung with shells and beads around her wrists. 11T x 5-3/4W Miniscule rust deposits, some loss of surface paint on clothing and some loss of wood at left foot.
