Das ist der Preis für die folgende Bewertung: Near-Ancient Djenne Bronze Standing Woman Holding Pot
Beschreibung : African, Mali, Dogon area, Djenne culture, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. Very rare and desirable bronze statuette of a standing woman holding a pot. Remarkable detailing. Notice the hands with defined digits wrapping around the vessel she holds, not to mention her expressive visage. Even her posture is animated with those bent knees. Then there are idiosyncratic details like her exaggerated outy belly button and the delineation of her spine. A fabulous figurine! Open looped ears for attachment or suspension. All of the bronzes from the Pickard Collection and have been checked out with a museum expert on ancient bronze who worked for both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Sackler Foundation. It is extremely rare to find small, ancient African bronzes that are authentic. These are the real deal! 4-1/8 (10.48 cm) H.
Provenance: Ex-private B. Pickard private collection, Oklahoma City, OK, collection begun in 1959 following university work in Africa.
